At WorkTango, we firmly believe that the success of our product is driven by the excellence of our people. Through continuous internal recognition, we strive not only to acknowledge but to reinforce the significance of each team member’s contributions. And in that vein, we wouldn’t be able to help improve (work) lives in so many organizations without the dedication of our Sales Development team and the work they do spreading the word about WorkTango.

In this WorkTango Employee Spotlight, we are excited to  introduce you to James K., our Manager of Sales Development. James has been a part of the WorkTango family for 4 years, and he and his amazing team contribute each and every day to the growth of our customer base. Join us as we delve into James’s journey, his role as a leader, and what motivates him to excel in the world of sales.

What’s something you want other people to know about you?

I’m a fan of Big Macs and during one of my university days, believe it or not, I ate 8 Big Macs in one sitting.

What has it been like to work at WorkTango?

It’s been exciting to see the growth. There were only 12 employees at WorkTango (the legacy company that existed before the merger with Kazoo) when I started. WorkTango is a place where I can be challenged, and working here opens up my aperture to how I see workplaces in general.

What piece of advice would you give to your younger self?

Don’t only stick to areas you’re good at, or things you’re familiar with. Learn, experiment, fail often and fail fast, learn from it, and try again.

What made you choose to join the WorkTango team?

When I was younger, I struggled with my mental health– and I continue to struggle even now. I joined WorkTango to do purpose-driven work that aligns with my own personal journey, knowing that work plays a significant role in our emotional and mental well-being. WorkTango’s leaders continue to make my time at work here enjoyable, and they support and enable me to take time to focus on my mental health as needed along the way.

What are you currently enjoying most about your role here at WorkTango?

Leading the Sales Development team has been rewarding. Being able to coach and develop this team has given me so many opportunities to learn, and I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished together and our impact on moving the business forward.

What’s your favorite productivity hack?

Embracing productive rest, and making space for bi-hourly breaks.

What is one thing you can’t live without?

I can’t live without Kimchi!

Who is the most influential person/people for you and why?

My dad has been the most influential person in my life. In my earlier days, we didn’t meet eye to eye.  I only recently started to see how much his personal value of servitude has shaped me. Many of the setbacks and failures I have experienced during my life could’ve been avoided if I had only listened to my dad’s wisdom earlier. Nevertheless, experiencing those setbacks hands-on was valuable, and today I value his perspective more than ever.

As we continue to grow here at WorkTango, we’re grateful for the opportunity to celebrate the unique stories, talents, and contributions of our team members. Through these WorkTango Employee Spotlights, we’ve had the privilege of getting to know the dedicated team members who drive our success, like James K., the captain of our SDR ship. Thank you for all you do, James!
