Join us as we learn about her life, her story, and what drives her to succeed.

What’s an interesting fact about yourself that you want people to know?

I was a big theater nerd and aspiring actor growing up. My favorite role was Lady Macbeth in college, in a production set in the 1960s (yes, go-go boots were involved!).

What has it been like to work at WorkTango?

It’s a truly collaborative place. Everyone has a seat at the table, and the agency to run with good ideas.

What piece of advice would you give to your younger self?

Some people will suggest that you take up too much space. You don’t. Find places where people push you to take up even more.

What made you choose to join the WorkTango team?

Prior to joining WorkTango, I worked for years in nonprofit fundraising. I wanted to shift into tech, so I completed a coding bootcamp, and WorkTango hired me as a software engineer. I remember loving the energy of the place. It seemed like a company full of great people, a fun product, and lots of room to grow. Years later, after having made some lifelong friends and shifting into product management, that turned out to be very true!

What are you currently enjoying most about your role here at WorkTango?

Getting to drive the creation of features that lift people up and make them feel seen. The entire process of making that happen is incredibly rewarding, from conversations with our users, to ideating, to building it with our team, to rolling it out and seeing a customer’s eyes light up when they use it. Can’t beat that.

How have you grown since starting at WorkTango?

Countless ways. Among them, I’ve deepened my technical skills as an engineer, grown into a new role and career as a product manager, and learned the importance of navigating high-level philosophy and messy reality when solving problems as a cross-functional team.

What’s your favorite productivity hack?

Time blocking. In my role, context switching and a packed calendar are necessary evils, but those are also my biggest barriers to performing deep work. Regularly blocking out time on my calendar ensures that I have the space to devote attention to more complex problem-solving and critical strategy.

What is one thing you can’t live without?

Daily post-work walks with my husband, Mike. We both work from home, so we use these walks to shift out of work mode and into our real life. Our favorite route is down to the beach to look out at the mountains over Puget Sound.

We treasure the chance to highlight the exceptional individuals who shape our journey here at WorkTango. These Employee Spotlights allow us to shed light on the remarkable talents and dedication of team members like Alyssa V.B., whose leadership as a Senior Product Manager plays a huge part in the success of our solutions. Thank you, Alyssa, for all you do.
